Changes for PE in Class 2 & 322 March 2023 (by Andrew Rudge (arudge)) |
Dear Parents and Carers of children in Class 2 and 3,
We are writing to notify you of some changes that will be taking place after Easter.
Firstly, we will be taking Class 2 swimming instead of Class 3 on Tuesday afternoons. Before the Covid lockdowns, we always took the Year 3 and 4 class swimming and switched to Year 5 and 6 to ensure year groups who would have not received any swimming did get this opportunity. We are switching at Easter to ensure the current Year 4 children have a term's worth of swimming before moving into Year 5. If there are children in this year group who require more swimming lessons to meet National Curriculum requirements, we will send them with the Year 3 and 4 class next year.
If any of your children are non-swimmers or are only just starting to learn, please do not worry - the coaching staff will assess the ability of all children and plan sessions appropriately. Please find a flier in your child's bag with details about 'Crash Courses' taking place at Etwall Leisure Centre over the Easter holidays.
Please also look out for swimming information and permission letters that will be given out later this week. Children in Class 2 should wear PE kit on Tuesdays and Thursdays after Easter. The first swimming session will take place on Tuesday 25th April.
We have also taken this decision as all children in Year 5 and 6 have met the standards expected at the end of primary school. The swimming coach was very complimentary of our children this week, saying they were one of the strongest groups of swimmers they teach.
Class 3 will now do PE on Monday afternoons with the Church Broughton Tennis Club coaching team. Children in Class 3 should wear PE kit on Mondays and Thursdays from after Easter. Next week’s swimming session will go ahead as normal.
Pupils in Class 2, who still wish to play tennis, will be able to join the lunchtime club on Mondays - they should dress in uniform but bring trainers for the club.
We also wish parents to be informed that Class 2 will be taught by Mrs Goodall all day on Fridays next term, with Mrs Perrett teaching the class instead, on Monday afternoons. Mrs Goodall already teaches the class on Wednesdays and Friday afternoons, so is well-known to all the children. The children will still need to bring their ukuleles on Mondays for their music lesson.
If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact the school office.
Best wishes,
Mr Rudge
