Upcoming Events – July 2022 Important Information
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for taking the time to read this update. The end of term is rapidly approaching, so I wanted to keep you informed of all the upcoming events and changes to normal routines that will be happening over the next three weeks.
This update will include details of the following events: celebration worships for the rest of the term; Key Stage 1 Mini-Olympics; Sports Champion sponsored sports event; Bikeability; Key Stage 2 ‘It’s a Summer Holiday’ production; Art exhibition; Year 6 Leavers Worship.
Celebration Worships
Due to several staff training events, we will not be holding Celebration Worships on Friday 8th July and Friday 15th July. The final Celebration Worship will take place on Friday 22nd July, starting at 2:00pm. All parents are welcome to join if they can.
Key Stage 1 Mini-Olympics
Next Wednesday (13th July), the school has entered Year 1 and Year 2 children in the South Derbyshire Mini-Olympics. The event takes place at Rosliston Forestry Centre between 1:00pm and 2:45pm. We ask that parents arrange lifts for children to and from the event: please let us know as soon as possible if this is an issue and we will try to liaise with other parents. Children should come into school in their PE kits on the day. A permission letter will be sent out very shortly.
Sports Champion sponsored sports event
You should have received a sponsorship form for your child to raise some money for the ‘Sports for Champions UK’ event we are hosting. A champion kayaker, Ottilie Robinson-Shaw will be in school on Thursday 14th July to run an assembly and a fitness session for all children. Please return all sponsor forms and money to school by this Friday, 8th July. There is also a link to a Crowd Fund page if you wished to donate that way: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/churchbroughton
Children in all classes should wear PE kits on the day.
Bikeability
On Monday 18th July, Year 6 children will complete the Stage 2 Bikeability Course. The course lasts all day; children should bring bikes to school on the morning and parents, please collect bikes at the end of the day.
Key Stage 2 ‘It’s a Summer Holiday’ production
On Tuesday 19th July, children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be performing the musical ‘It’s a Summer Holiday’. The performance will commence at 6:30pm and we ask that parents bring the children who are performing to school at 5:45pm to get ready. It would be lovely for parents and wider families to come and support their children: tickets are on sale now: Adults £2.00, Children (16 and under) £1:00.
The children will be performing the musical earlier in the day for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
All children in the play need to bring costumes and props needed this Thursday 7th July (or Friday 8th July for those away from school on Thursday).
Art exhibition
Throughout this year, children have been working hard to produce some high quality artwork. They will be displaying this artwork between 2:45pm – 3:45pm on Wednesday 20th July. Parents (and wider family) are welcome to come into school and spend some time looking at the work. To raise funds and enable further exciting art projects in the future, you will be able to buy your child’s masterpieces with a requested minimum donation of £3.00. If you cannot attend at this time, please liaise with class teachers to arrange a more suitable time.
Year 6 Leavers Worship
On Thursday 21st July, we will be holding the Year 6 Leavers Worship at 9:30am in church. It will be lovely to return this event to church after a couple of years away due to the pandemic. All children will attend and parents and wider family of children in Year 6 are warmly invited.
Please do contact school if you have any questions or queries.
Best wishes,
Mr Rudge
